ATSI is pleased to host this year’s convention in sunny San Diego. Our chosen hotel , the Westin, is located in the famous Gaslamp Quarter. Historic buildings have been relocated to the Gaslamp Quarter from other parts of San Diego, their nineteenth century architecture restored to its original exuberance. Restaurants, shops and clubs now occupy former brothels and saloons. A random walk will give you a sense of the place and it's only a few blocks in each direction. Attendees can enjoy beautiful buildings, do a little shopping, have coffee, drinks and dinner all while listening to some great music.

You will need to plan on coming in early or staying longer. There is much to do and see. San Diego is California’s second largest city and is renowned for its 70 miles of pristine beaches and dazzling array of world class family attractions.  Some of these attractions include the world famous San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Legoland, Balboa Park, Birch Aquarium, and the many Missions of San Diego. We are fortunate that the Education Foundation is hosting their annual event at the Maritime Museum on Thursday evening.  What a great venue and opportunity to get a peek at the past!  The museum has an array of vessels from the Star of India, the oldest active sailing ship, an 1898 Victorian steam ferry, submarines and more.  We also recommend that you make time to check out the Hotel del Coronado on Coronado Island. This hotel which has hosted past ATSI conferences is the largest wooden structure in the United States and worth the the time you will spend visiting.
