1. Tell your congresspeople how this proposal will affect your business.  ATSI makes it easy - it only takes a few minutes.

Grassroots lobbying is simply citizen participation in government.  The key to successful grassroots lobbying efforts is assembling people who share common goals and concerns.  These efforts are vital in educating legislators on the concerns of the voting population in their state.  If you do not share your views with your elected officials, then those views will not be considered when it comes time to vote on an issue, which directly affects you.  You can make a difference by simply writing, calling, meeting, or faxing your representative!

Grassroots efforts are our best weapon to protect you because it assures that we will successfully reach and influence every Member of Congress.  In the past, political decisions were primarily made in Washington, DC.  Today, more politicians are focusing more on what is being said by the local communities and the people.  As former Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill stated “all politics is local”.  As a voter, you have the most powerful tool available on Capitol Hill, your vote.  You have the ability to hold each representative accountable to you as a constituent.  Without hearing from you, your legislator does not know what is important to you as a business owner in this industry.  Your recommendation may be the deciding factor in a member’s decision to vote for or against any legislative action.  YOU make the difference!

It is incumbent upon you to educate your elected officials on how unintended changes to the Universal Service Fund might negatively affect your business.  The time to act is now—not after changes to the Universal Service Fund have passed that could adversely your business!  Remember, if an issue doesn’t have constituent support, the Congressperson will probably ignore it.

ATSI has made advocating on this issue very easy. All you need to do is click here to visit ATSI's Special Grass Roots web pages and fill in your name and address and send the email to your legislators. You can also add some anecdotal information in the body of the letter to make it more personal. We would like you and all of your employees to just take two minutes out of your schedule to protect your profession and your business. Remember, if you don’t take action, who will?

2. Please complete the anonymous ATSI FCC Survey (Survey III)

Statistically relevant data on our industry's use of telephone numbers is important for ATSI's work at the FCC and in Congress.  These statistics will support ATSI's work seeking alternative contribution methodologies for our industry.
